The Samurai

Who doesn't like a comedy action show about some kids who think they live in feudal Japan when really they live in modern Tokyo? This OVA follows a boy named Takishi who is following in the footsteps of his father and becoming a Samurai master. Two female ninjas who are his childhood rivals transfer to his school to win back a dagger that his father won from their father when they were children. Basically the whole show goes on where these two twin ninja's fight the samurai for the dagger. There is a lot of comedy throughout this OVA as Takishi cannot be around naked females without getting a nose bleed and one of the female ninjas can't seem to keep her clothes on. This OVA consists of a number of different fight scenes between these two sets of rivals that almost always end with a comical finale.

The animation style is very much in tune with the Ranma 1/2 style. Big eyes, bubbly expressions. Not that really serious demeanor like Samurai 7 of Basilisk. For the most part it is a good short movie, lasting about 45 mins long. It is worth the time to check out if you want to watch something that is not too involved like many of the series that are out there now, but not so mindless that you want to smack your head off a desk.

  1. I am looking forward to seeing this one. Most of what I watch is the gritty harsh world anime like Akira, Gits and Jin Roh. It makes a nice change of pace to watch something like this.

  2. You won't be disappointed with this show Scallywag. Its almost like slayers meets Samurai Deeper Kyo. There is a lot of energy from all of the characters in the film.
