Moribito Guardian of the Spirit

Moribito has a very basic plot a female bodyguard named Balsa also known as the spear welder takes on the job of protecting a young boy named Chagum from soldiers, assassins and other worldly threats. Her assignment is to keep Chagum the second prince alive, to protect him from his own father who wants him dead because he is possessed by a water spirit.

The animation alone for this series is beautiful, just a simple glance and you can tell some money was put into this series. Not once during this series did the animation lack anything, the details are great. Even the fight scenes were beautifully done. The series is wonderfully done, the story, the art, the characters all of it is splendid.

I don’t want to give much away but this is a must watch series. There is enough action to keep the action lovers entertained. A great story to keep everyone hooked and the main two characters grow and develop in such a way that you can relate to them. The main character Balsa is a great lead; she isn’t very girly and has a body that one would expect from years of training and fighting. Her personality is standoffish and she doesn’t feel the need to talk all the time. Chagum starts off as a spoiled prince but slowly comes to term with his situation. The other reoccurring characters are also nicely developed and help with both Balsa’s and Chagum’s growth over the series. All in all a great series, I highly recommend it.
